Steve began his work in housing as a community volunteer in 1994 helping to establish community groups and other voluntary activity in Newport where he also served as a board member for a Housing Association and as a key tenant for the WT. He then spent five years with TPAS Cymru which culminated in taking on the post of Head of Operations. Upon leaving that role he established the consultancy firm ‘Foundation for Social Change’ before joining the Welsh Tenants in 2003 as a volunteer and then becoming our Policy Officer in 2005. Steve is now the Managing Director
Sharon has worked in housing since leaving school, which ranges from an administrator for various repossession companies to a branch manager at a local letting agency. She has worked for the Welsh Tenants for over 15 years and is now the office manager. Her role is to co-ordinate activities of the Welsh Tenants National Office and to ensure its effective, efficient and economic smooth running, she also updates the social media sites and runs their annual conferences and events.
Sharon believes that all tenures should have a decent affordable home, whether you are a PRS tenant or a social housing tenant. A good quality home is a right not a privilege.
Jonathan joined Welsh Tenants as its Administrator in July 2013.He is a fluent Welsh speaker. He carries out all administrative duties and helps with the annual conferences.
Recently becoming a private tenant himself, he believes that more regulation is needed within PRS and more support should be provided to young individuals and families who rent.
In terms of interests, he’s in his final year at USW studying Creative Industries (Photography) and has been a Licentiateship Member of the Royal Photographic Society since 2012.
